Overhead Crane/Forklift Operator

Great Lakes Reloading, LLC is seeking to fulfill a full-time labor-intensive position that is responsible for transloading various materials utilizing an overhead crane and/or forklift. Each type of material requires strict attention to order accuracy and handling. Follows warehouse instructions in building loads specifically requested by customers and management. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Position is required to work across a variety of weather conditions.

A successful candidate will have 3+ years of experience operating a 15-30 ton overhead crane performing duties in moving steel products around warehouse and loading/unloading trucks, containers and/or railcars. This position requires someone who can work well independently and as a team who is self-motivated.


  • Inspect and test cranes daily and associated equipment
  • Operation of overhead crane utilizing mags, chains and slings
  • Material handling of various products including steel pipe, tubing, rounds, rebar, coils and skids
  • Thoroughly communicate with operators and employees on the floor
  • Perform other departmental duties as assigned
  • WMS and RF gun experience highly desired
  • Detailed oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Solid problem-solving skills and judgement
  • Ability to adjust tasks as needed
  • Reliable with good attendance and flexibility
  • Perform all job functions considering your safety and the safety of fellow employees
  • Employee must follow all company rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be comfortable working with heights
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
  • Able to handle seasonal temperature changes
  • Manufacturing environment with noise and dust

Special Requirements:

  • This position may be required to work all shifts (day, swing and/or graveyard) periodically. Ability to work any shift and to change shift requirements to meet business needs is required.
  • Forklift certification is preferred.


  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous overhead crane experience of 3+ years
  • Forklift certification is preferred.
  • Attention to detail

Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screen

  • Lubricate motor and moving parts of crane
  • Calculating crane capacity and performing rigging calculations
