My client is a well-known Heavy Civil General Contractor in the Chicagoland market that completes over $700M in work across the Midwest. Their speciality lies within the heavy civil space (excavation, asphalt, paving and more) and they have an immediate need for a Superintendent, with 5+ years in the construction industry, to lead multiple projects averaging at $10M per job.

Client Details

My client was established in 1916 when the owner saw a need to build roads to carry the growing auto traffic in Northern Indiana. Fast forward 100 years, my client is now Midwest's most respected road builder, paving contractor, and commercial contractor. With multiple asphalt plants close to major highways, my client has completed over $700M worth of work in a single year before and has tremendous bidding capabilities ensuring a steady stream of jobs.



  • Develop and implement schedules and work plans for assigned projects
  • Communicate with Customers and project team members to coordinate job schedule, changes and address any construction issues that arise
  • Provide direction to field personnel and ensure all work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Ensure project documentation and quantity reporting is accurate and complete
  • Develop submittals, change orders, and pay requests as assigned
  • Resolve or participate in resolving construction problems
  • Review and evaluate daily costs, time sheets, truck and equipment usage
  • Monitor employee compliance with safety program requirements, and document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
  • Coordinate and cooperate with other departments (i.e., Quality Control, Equipment) to ensure that all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc. are in place to support craft activities and project schedule


  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in heavy highway and site development preferred
  • Experience with asphalt, concrete, excavation, and underground utility construction required
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Must have good organization skills
  • Must be quick to adapt and able to thrive in a fast paced, high pressure environment
  • Good PC skills--proficiency in Microsoft Office essential
  • Leadership and problem solving skills are essential
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
