Job Description

Based in our downtown Chicago headquarters, the individual selected for this opportunity will be vital in the firm’s operations and leadership teams. This individual will oversee daily and longer-term operations activities and coordinate team processes, procedures, and projects, while focusing on continuous process improvement. Primary responsibilities will focus on acting as a repository for all operations and back-office matters, liaising with client-facing personnel, and compliance, new accounts, trading, and other operations teams. 

A successful Vice President of Operations is motivated, dedicated to building internal relationships, and highly accountable. The ideal candidate can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and anticipate needs or problems before they arise. No task is too big or too small.

Specific job responsibilities

  • Ensure development and implementation of efficient operations to meet current and future needs
  • Act as a Project Manager for the firm’s major projects and strategic initiatives
  • Lead M&A integrations
  • Research, propose, and implement new initiatives
  • Collaborate with other teams to carry out the firm’s short- and long-term goals
  • Revise existing and create new workflows and procedures
  • Formalize and ensure documentation of internal processes and workflows
  • Lead Operations Team meetings
  • Mutual fund oversight and administration
  • Deliver and present information to the firm’s Board and Executive Committee, as requested
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of emerging processes and technologies in the RIA space

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Ten years of work experience in operations at a registered investment advisor
  • Experience managing custodial and external relationships
  • Project management experience- from project inception to completion
  • Experience in a leadership role, including managing people
  • Familiarity with CRMs and Advent APX preferred, but not required
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree
