What You'll Do:

  • Perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the Head Start Performance Standards and component plans; Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework; and thorough knowledge and application of developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Oversee HS and EHS educational content areas and curriculum which includes overseeing, monitoring and participating in the planning, development and implementation of the program Education Plan.
  • Lead a team of Educational Mentor Coaches. Provide reflective and task-oriented supervision to all assigned staff and promote an effective team culture. Evaluate the performance of assigned staff as required by ASM policy and procedures. Actively participate in the development and implementation of the assigned staff Professional Development Plan.
  • Oversee and guide all ASM partner site Owners, Directors, and other related staff to ensure strong partnership relationships and collaboration as it relates to the education and development of enrolled children.
  • Oversee the coaching of all teachers as well as all educational related documentation for enrolled HS and EHS children. Assist and direct assigned Mentor Coaches in providing feedback and guidance regarding curriculum development and implementation, lesson planning, developmental assessments, and Teaching Strategies. Ensure all teaching staff are well trained, resourced and knowledgeable to deliver high quality educational services for our enrolled children.
  • Ensure the CLASS Fidelity Tool is implemented and used to assess, encourage and further enhance the teacher-child interactions, assuring the validity of data.
  • Develop and ensure the implementation of an effective monitoring plan and tools to ensure HS/EHS standard compliance across all sites. Work professionally and effectively with all sites to ensure a high level of accountability.
  • Collect and evaluate the Child Outcome data, presenting the finding to Ada's Child Development leadership team and Parent Policy Committee. Share summary of data collected with each classroom and Site Coordinators, for program planning purposes in alignment with Coaching to Fidelity.
  • Meet quarterly with the monitoring team to analyze and discuss classroom data.
  • Oversee the monitoring and implementation of Teaching Strategies requirements regarding discussions of the child's individual development and progress, assisting the parents in developing observational skills and soliciting parent observations.
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring of developmental screenings (ASQ-SE and ESR-I) regarding accuracy of scoring and completion within 45 calendar days of a child's enrollment. In addition, ensure all children receive further evaluation when noted within the screening tool findings.
  • Provide guidance to Mentor Coaches to assure that all activities for children are based upon developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant practices.
  • Prepare annual assessments of classroom equipment and material needs and make recommendations for allocation of funds for supplies and equipment.
  • Plan and provide orientation, pre-service and in-service training for staff with assistance and support from the Educational Mentor Coaches, which is based on the individual staff needs, child outcome data, self-assessment results, and disabilities component observations at centers.
  • Provide oversight for tracking staff training hours per the Head Start training requirements.
  • Complete and submit required reports within communicated deadlines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and cooperates with agency and program policies/procedures.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned, or as necessary to fulfill the position.


  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Five plus years' direct teaching experience in an early childhood classroom.
  • Three plus years' in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Three plus years' of experience working in a Head Start/Early Head Start program required.


  • Gateways ECE or IT Credential Level 5.
  • Knowledge of Teachstone CLASS. Training preferred.
  • Knowledge in the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold.
  • Must possess reliable transportation/personal vehicle to make all applicable site visits as needed; proof of valid driver's license and vehicle insurance is required. Must be willing to work outdoors for very brief periods of time.
