Senior Specialist, Financial Planning & Analysis
What can you expect?
This position is responsible for collaborating directly with the Marsh Chicago Mid-Market practice, a business unit of approximately $100 million in revenues. This role requires collaboration directly with business partners, as well as finance leaders, and will serve as a critical liaison between finance and the business, serving on the front lines as the face of FP&A, and primary contact on matters relating to month end close, budget and forecast.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, and seeks to enable growth for the business. While this role will primarily focus on core FP&A responsibilities – forecast development, budgeting and supporting the monthly close of the the general ledger – the candidate will be expected to partner with business leaders and colleagues to provide insightful decision support and drive growth objectives.

Be a leader in enabling growth, and providing insightful leverage to relevant business partners.
Be proactive, operate independently with minimal oversight, ensuring timely and accurate project delivery

Connect with Producers/Account Managers to conduct comprehensive financial account reviews and forecasts, identify risks and opportunities and strategize on maximizing revenue in the portfolio
Reconcile actual vs. planned results, explain variances to management and re-forecast as necessary
Develop/maintain financial models to enable analytics around trends, performance, and outlook that are consistent throughout the geographies and business units
Facilitate management decision-making through the preparation and presentation of financial materials that communicate key insights around business performance and highlight material variances, trends, & risks/opportunities
Perform ad hoc analyses on financial data and business requests to monitor tactical decisions and enable strategic decision making
Manage the monthly close process including determination of revenue recognition based on supporting documentation, perform account reconciliations and submit journal entries
Manage the quarterly forecast, and annual budget process, including any required reporting for the business, with limited oversight
Foster service-focused relationships with the business leaders while effectively collaborating with other support functions
What you need to have:
Bachelors required; 3-6 years of experience in financial planning & analysis, controllership or related experience in a global operation
Extremely strong understanding and background in accounting, financial analysis techniques and business planning skills
Strong analytical skills and business decision support along with effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with all levels of management
Ability to take on special projects as well as ongoing activity
